Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former media aide to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), less than two weeks after dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yakasai, a son of elder statesman Tanko Yakasai, announced the development via his verified twitter handle @dawisu on Friday.

He said, “After due and extensive consultations with family, friends and close associates. I have decided to officially join People’s Redemption Party PRP Victory.

“Its a 44 year old party that has never lost its principles and values, which I believe allign completely with mine.”

Dateline Nigeria reports that Yakasai, who was suspended twice for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, was eventually sacked in February 2021.

While announcing his exit from the ruling party on March 21, Yakasai said the Nigerian government led by the APC has failed to fulfil its promises to Nigerians.
