Ganduje’s former aide Salihu Yakasai to declare for Kano governorship today

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former media aide to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in April this year, will today declare his intention to run for governor of Kano State.

Yakasai, who disclosed this in a message he shared on his social media handles, said the declaration will take place on Friday 10am at the Mambayya House Gwammaja, Kano.

“In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah. My dear family, friends and well wishers, this is to announce to you my intention to contest for Governor of Kano State, under our great party PRP. My official declaration will take place this Friday, your prayers are highly needed. Thank you,” the message reads.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Yakasai, who was suspended twice for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, was eventually sacked by Ganduje in February 2021.

He announced his exit from the ruling party on March 21, saying the Nigerian government led by the APC had failed to fulfil its promises to Nigerians.
