
The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State and former Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has visited Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano.
Gawuna who recently resigned as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, also formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday. He was accompanied to his Gawuna ward by Kwankwaso.
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, the former All Progressives Congress governorship candidate said his decision takes immediate effect and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive for political appointees to step down in compliance with the Electoral Act ahead of forthcoming elections.
“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” he wrote.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege that enabled him to contribute to the development of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the country.
