General Wushishi buried in Kaduna

The late former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lt Gen. Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi has been buried in Kaduna after a well-attended military and Muslim ceremonies.

The body of the deceased veteran, draped in the national flag and ushered into the cemetery by a military honour guard by Generals was lowered into the grave at 2:00pm.

The funeral prayer was led by Kaduna-based scholar Dr Ahmad Gumi at the Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna.

President Muhammadu Buhari was represented by a delegation led by the Minister of Defence, retired Major-General Bashir Magashi. Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alh Yahaya Abubakar also attended the ceremonies.

Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami A. Abubakar, and former military governor of Kano State Col. Sani Bello were also there.

Speaking on behalf of the widow, Hajiya Kande and the rest of the family, General AbdulSalam Abubakar said it mattered a lot to all of them that the President sent an important delegation to the burial.

The presidential delegation included the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya, the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity) Garba Shehu and the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mohammad Nami.

While at the deceased residence, where the Governor went to condole with the family, the Chief Imam of Agaie, Alh. Mohammed Chata led the special prayer session.
