Gombe governor appoints chairmen, members of College of Nursing and Midwifery, Hospitals Management Boards

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON has approved the appointment of chairmen and board members of two institutions aimed at bolstering the health sector in Gombe State.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi who conveyed the Governor’s approval, said the appointments are with immediate effect.

According to the SSG, for Gombe State College of Nursing and Midwifery, the Governor appointed Alh. Saidu Mohammed as Chairman with Margaret Yusuf, representing Gombe South, Babangida Adamu Jigawa from Gombe North and Usman Mohammed Babayo, representing Gombe Central as members.

The Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Higher Education, Finance, Health, and Local Government are designated as members with the College Provost, two elected members of the Academic Board, and a representative from the Congregation also included as members . The Director Nursing from the Ministry of Health is also a member while the College Registrar serves as the Secretary of the board.

For the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr. Musa Kallamu Shehu is appointed Chairman with Hon. Abba Hammari, Mrs. Farida Suleiman, and Mr. Dogari Yusuf appointed as members representing Gombe North, Gombe Central and Gombe South respectively.

Additionally, Permanent Secretaries of Establishment & Service Matters, ministries of Health, Finance, and Civil Service Commission will serve as members.

Also joining the HMB as members are Dr. Abdulsalam Khalifa (NMA), MLS Abdulsalam Yakubu (JOHESU), Phram. Nafiu Ibrahim (PSN), Mohammed Hamma (MHWUN) while the Executive Secretary of the HMB serves as Secretary.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expects members of the newly constituted boards to bring to bear their individual expertise and experience to contribute to the growth and development of the healthcare and educational institutions in Gombe State.
