Gridlock on Abuja-Kaduna highway as residents protest ‘incessant’ kidnappings

Residents of Gauraka, a community in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, have blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway this morning to protest the abduction of 15 people in the area.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the protesters have stopped all vehicular movement on the highway, saying the government must address the insecurity in their community.

According to residents, the kidnappers stormed the area 0ast midnight and operated until 1:30am, yet there was no security presence.

“Cases of kidnapping have become rampant in our community which is close to Zuma rock of Abuja-Kaduna highway. The vigilantes are the only ones trying to do something.
