Group backs Bauchi gov’s defection to APM, plans awareness campaign

The Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV) has declared its support for Governor Bala Mohammed’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and pledged to launch a statewide awareness campaign.

The group’s Director General and National Leader, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, announced the position on Monday during a solidarity event at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic in Bauchi.

Jibo said the event was organised to endorse the governor’s political realignment and his planned move to the APM.

He described the decision as one driven by patriotism, sincerity, and a commitment to effective governance and sustainable development in Bauchi State beyond 2027.

“Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has come, has seen, and has conquered. He is a leader, not a ruler; a giver, not a taker,” Jibo said.

He compared the governor to nationalist leaders including Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo, and Aminu Kano.

Jibo also claimed that the achievements of the governor’s administration over the past seven years across Bauchi’s 20 local government areas were unmatched, saying they surpassed the combined record of successive administrations over the previous 43 years.

According to him, BAMV and 72 other political and civil society groups have aligned with the governor’s decision to join the APM following extensive consultations and careful assessment.

“We strongly believe in the governor’s ability to lead us to victory in the 2027 general elections under the banner of the APM,” Jibo said.

The group resolved to begin a full-scale sensitisation tour across Bauchi State to explain the defection to voters and rally support for the governor’s new platform. Jibo added that while the move was difficult, it was necessary for the overall interest of the state.
