Gunmen abduct 2 corps members in Zamfara

Two members National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from Benue State have been abducted in Zamfara State, according to the police.

The corps members posted to Kebbi and Sokoto were abducted by suspected gunmen along Gusau-Zaria road, a statement on Friday by Zamfara police spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad said.

Following the report of the incident, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Ayuba Elkana paid an assessment visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Tsafe to assess the security arrangement with a view to ensuring the safety of the corp cembers.

Shehu further said “On the 19th of October 2021, a vehicle with reg. No GBK 339 ZY was attacked by armed bandits while travelling from Benue to Sokoto State near Wanzamai village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State and several passengers abducted.”

In an address at the orientation camp, the CP said his command has already commenced investigation into the whole scenario, noting that search and rescue operation had commenced with a view to rescuing the corp members.

He assured the corp members that the command would do everything possible to ensure their safety
