The city of Sokoto played host to many dignitaries on Sunday as former governor of the state and now Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko married off 10 children.
Those ushered into matrimony include Faruk Aliyu Wamakko, Barrister Bello Aliyu Wamakko, Isa Aliyu Wamakko and Armiya’u Aliyu Wamakko. Others are Sadiya Aliyu Wanakko, Saratu Aliyu Wamakko, Saudatu Aliyu Wamakko, and three others.
After the payment of dowry ranging from N100,000; N80,000 and N50,000, the weddings were officiated by the Sarkin Mallaman Sokoto Mallam Yahaya Na Mallam Boyi at the Gowon Nama residence of Wamakko along Sahabi Dange road.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of President Muhammadu Buhari led by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, and Minister of Police Affairs Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi.
The President of Niger Republic Mohammed Bazoum also send representatives led by Alh. Abdulra’uf Dodo from Niamey.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan was represented by the Senate leader Yahaya Abdullahi.
Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former governors Muhammadu Adamu Aleiro (Kebbi), Yahaya Abdulkarim (Sokoto), Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Zamfara), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Danjuma Goje (Gombe).
Also present were former Sokoto deputy governor Alh. Ahmad Muhammad Gusau, members of the National Assembly from Sokoto, members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly led by Hon. Abubakar Bodinga, Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura and others.
