Former cricket star Imran Khan has been deposed as Prime Minister of Pakistan in a late-night no-confidence vote by Pakistan’s National Assembly.
The passing of the motion, which 174 lawmakers voted in favor of, followed the supreme court ruling that Khan acted unconstitutionally when he previously blocked the process and dissolved parliament.
A session of Pakistan’s National Assembly will be called at 2 pm local time to nominate the new prime minister.
Khan has said that the vote was initiated as a foreign plot orchestrated by the U.S. and involved members of his former coalition. (CGTN)
