Jigawa governor appoints new Dutse emir

Seven Dutse Emirate Kingmakers have unanimously selected Muhammad Hameem as the new Emir of Dutse with seven votes among the three contenders of the Royal Seat.

A statement from the Emirate Council said the name of the selected New Emir was forwarded to Jigawa State Council of Chiefs which also approved the decision of the Kingmakers.

The kingmakers are Wazirin Dutse Bashir Dalhatu (chairman), Madakin Dutse Tijjani Inuwa-Dutse; Makaman Dutse, Ibrahim Yaya; Dankwanon Dutse, Shuaibu Dankwano; Sarkin Ban Dutse, Bello Haruna; Sarkin Gabas, Bashari Abubakar and; Chief Imam of Dutse, Abubakar Birnin-Kudu.

The statement said the Council of Chiefs sent the name of Muhammad Hameem and the other two contestants to His Excellency Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for his approval.

Subsequently the Governor has approved Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sanusi as the New Emir of Dutse with effect from today 05/02/2023.

Meanwhile the New Emir, Muhammad Hameem, who was until now the Dan Iyan Dutse, is to be presented with letter of appointment by the Jigawa State Government by 4pm in the evening today at his Palace in Garu, Dutse.

The presentation of the official appointment letter will be immediately followed by his formal installation.
