Jigawa governor de-emphasizes borrowing, commits to boosting IGR

Jigawa State Government has reiterated it’s commitment towards de-emphasizing borrowing while plugging leakages and boosting internally generated revenue.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar disclosed this while inspecting one of the private sector investments established in Gumel local area of the state.

The governor, according to a statement by his media aide Habibu Nuhu Kila, said the benefits of a private investment cannot be overemphasized as it provides employment and economic activity to the people, especially the host community.

Governor Badaru said Jigawa State Government through its investment and promotion agency will continue to facilitate and support private sector investment in the state.

To this regard over 500 hectares of land was provided to WACOT limited to develop a sesame academy that will enhance the technical capacity of sesame farmers not only in Jigawa but in the whole of the sesame producing region of West Africa.

He therefore commended WACOT limited for their dogged commitment by creating an organic sesame farm, farmer’s academy, a dripping irrigation, sesame cleaning plant and warehouse.

Earlier the Managing Director of WACOT limited, Mr. Bibhu Nandu expressed appreciation to the governor for all the necessary support accorded to them and promised to compliment government programmes towards food production and economic empowerment to the people.
