The Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Muktar Baloni has said that for LG reform to be complete there must be a provision for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conduct Local Government elections.
Baloni spoke while presenting a paper at the Northern Nigerian Ex-Councillors’ Forum with the theme “Role of Legislative Councils in the Democratic Era”
A statement by the Kaduna North council spokesman Jibril Adamu Seza said Baloni “made a presentation that any LG autonomy reform that doesn’t include the provision to make INEC conduct Local Government elections is incomplete.
“He acknowledged what the Governor of Kaduna State has done with Local Government elections and to sustain it, he suggested the need for INEC to be given the mandate.”
