The Kaduna State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in the last two weeks with the arrest of suspected gun runners, bandits, armed robbers and the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and a stolen government vehicle.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday, 27th August 2026 in Kaduna.
Giving details, the CP said on 25th August, police at Sabon Gari, Zaria arrested one Kenneth, 39, with two AK-49 rifles, 503 rounds of ammunition and suspected hard drugs hidden in a sack of potatoes at Yan’Karfe Motor Park.
On 25th August also, operatives intercepted a motorcyclist along Kachia road with 134 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed in a sack. The suspect confessed he was delivering the consignment to a notorious bandit known as “Yellow Mai-million.”
In anti-kidnapping operations, the Command arrested three suspected bandits on 24th August along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway at Audu Jangwam. They are Ibrahim Muhammad alias Alti, Usman Tukur alias Mallam, and Hassan Alhaji Salisu alias Tagwaye. They confessed to operating around Millennium City and other parts of the state.
The CP also announced the arrest of three suspects, Jamilu Yau alias Jagwa, Abdullahi Hamisu alias Maikudi Santsi, and Sani Abubakar alias Gaye, in connection with armed robbery and rape in communities around Rafin Tukurwa, Zaria. The suspects allegedly used a “grave stick charm” and attacked residents of Gidan Kira, Magata and Gidan Maranta.
In another case, police recovered a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Kaduna State Water Board, with reg. No. DKA 174 LY, which was stolen in Ungwan Rimi. The vehicle was intercepted in Kano after a hot chase.
The Command also arrested two suspects, Abdullahi Abubakar and Shehu Sani, for vandalizing a transformer at the Infectious Disease Centre, Mando, after tying up five security guards.
CP Muhammad commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and Governor Uba Sani for their support. He appealed to the public to protect government facilities and provide credible information to the police.
“We remain committed to intelligence-led policing to deny criminals freedom of operation in Kaduna State,” he said.
All suspects are in custody and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
