Kano APC voids Ganduje’s suspension, sanctions ward leaders

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared as null and void the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

This is just as the Kano APC suspended the ward party leaders, who suspended Ganduje from the party, for six months.

Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano State, was suspended by the APC leaders in his ward in Dawkin Tofa Local Government Area of the state on Monday, April 15, 2024.

The ward leaders said they decided to suspend Ganduje from the party due to the corruption allegation levelled against him by the Kano State Government.

Speaking on the development, the APC Chairman in Dawkin Tofa LGA, Inusa Dawanau, said those behind Ganduje’s suspension were caught in anti-party activities, noting that their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.

Dawanau said the Kano APC Working Committee adopted the suspension of the ward’s APC leaders.

He said: “They have sanctioned them for six months, and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.

“Ganduje’s suspension is invalid, null and void, and cannot stand.”

Also reacting, the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, said the party had adopted the decisions of the Local Government party leaders and is now investigating the culprits’ anti-party activities.

Abbas said: “We have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those who suspended the National Chairman, and the State Working Committee has agreed to sanction them for six months.

“They will remain suspended until the expiration of the period.”

A Kano State High Court fixed April 17, 2024, for the arraignment of Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others for alleged bribery.

Ganduje and the others will be arraigned on eight counts, including a $413,000 bribery allegation, diversion, and misappropriation of N1.38 billion.
