Kano CP charges police officers to fight crimes to standstill

  • IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme: CP presents cheques amounting to N5.5m to beneficiaries

In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, on professionalism and community policing, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko held meeting with Area Commanders, Heads of Departments (HODs) and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).

Also on the same date, the CP, in line with IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme, presented fourteen (14) Cheques amounting to N5.5m to beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries that were presented with the cheques are next of kin of deceased Police Officers with eight of them getting N500,000 each and six getting N250,000 each.

During the presentation, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi charged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the money for the up keep and welfare of the families.

He further stated that, the welfare scheme was meant to ameliorate the suffering or hardship faced by the deceased immediate family before the benefits of such officers are paid.

The beneficiaries overwhelmed with the gesture of the IGP promise to make good use of the money as it comes in time of need.

In his meeting with Area Commanders, Heads of Departments and Divisional Police Officers, CP S. S. Dikko charged Officers to fight crimes to standstill. That they should continuously raid criminal hideouts and black spots, through visibility and intelligence-led policing, intelligence gathering, prompt response to distress calls and Intensified Community Policing Engagements.

He urged Officers to work according to provisions of the law, ensure the rights and privileges of citizens are respected in line with the laws of the land and in accordance with international best practices. The Police are professional, and that, officers will be accountable for their actions.

The CP appreciated the Government, the good people of Kano State, sister security agencies, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, the Media, members of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Civil Liberty Organizations (CLOs), Special Constabularies, Vigilante Groups and other Community Policing Stakeholders for their prayers, support, encouragement and cooperation. The command will remain steadfast in ensuring peace prevails in the State.
