The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has decorated 956 officers who benefitted from the recent promotion exercise approved by the Police Service Commission.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, on Monday, had beneficiaries drawn from across the Command’s operational formations.
The promotions cut across all the 11 Area Commands, 78 Police Divisions, and other Police Formations under the Kano State Police Command, reflecting the wide reach of the recent advancement.
The ceremony began with the Commissioner conveying the congratulations of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Ridwan Disu, to all newly promoted personnel.
CP Bakori commended the IGP for his sustained commitment to personnel welfare, career progression, and morale-boosting initiatives across the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing some of the decorated officers, CP Bakori charged them to reciprocate the gesture through renewed dedication and exemplary conduct.
He emphasized that the promotion was based strictly on competence, seniority, and merit, and urged the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to selfless service to the nation and to the people of Kano State, uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He also urged them to be good ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force both on and off duty and exhibit conduct that inspires public trust and confidence in the institution.
The Commissioner further reminded the officers that promotion comes with greater responsibility, and that the Command will continue to monitor performance and reward excellence.
Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, CPL Saratu Yaru expressed appreciation to the Police leadership for the promotion and for the improved welfare packages under the current Inspector-General of Police.
She assured the Commissioner that “we will not relent in giving our best in service to the nation, upholding the rule of law, and protecting the lives and property of all residents of Kano State. We see this promotion as a call to greater sacrifice, and we are committed to justifying the confidence reposed in us.”
The Kano State Police Command appreciates the Inspector-General of Police for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in the welfare and professional development of officers and men. The Command remains resolute in its mandate to provide professional, accountable, and people-centered policing in line with the IGP’s strategic vision.
