Kano emir turbans elder brother as Wambai, Dan Agundi as Sarkin Dawaki Babba

The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has turbanned his elder brother and ex-Ciroman Kano Sanusi Ado Bayero as Wambai at a ceremony in his palace on Friday.

Also turbanned was Alh. Aminu Babba Dan Agundi who bagged the title of Sarkin Dawaki Babba and the District Head of Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The two were earlier given their titles in 2020.

The governor was represented at the event by his Deputy Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, accompanied by the State Chairman of the APC Alh. Abdullahi Abbas, Chief of Staff to the Governor Alh. Ali Makoda, Commissioners and other senior government officials.

The emir in his speech shortly after the turbanning ceremony, said both the new turbanned officials are now members of the Kano Emirate Council.

The Emir Bayero also charged them to discharge their duties effectively with the fear of Allah and use their wealth of experience towards the development of Kano State and the Emirate as a whole.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the new Wambai is the eldest son of late Kano Emir Ado Bayero. He embarked of self-exile when he lost the Kano throne to Muhammadu Sanusi.

As for Babba Dan Agundi, he was earlier stripped of his title and membership of the Kano Emirate Council by the late Ado Bayero in 2003 over insubordination.

Dan Agundi went to court but failed win reinstatement. Though Dan Agundi won at the lower and appellate courts, he lost at the Supreme Court.
