Kano govt seizes N1bn worth of expired cigarettes

Kano State Government said it has found and seized expired cigarettes worth over N1bn stored in a building in Sharada, an industrial area.

Acting Managing Director of Kano Consumer Protection Council Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, who disclosed this to the BBC, said they spent two days evacuating the cigarettes hidden in Sharada area of the state.

Dan Agundi said this led to an ultimatum issued traders in the state to remove goods that are about to expire or face sanction.

He said they are working to establish the businessman behind the expired cigarettes.
