Kano police arrest two more over Farm Centre GSM market attack, arraign seven

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the April 28, 2026 thuggery attack on the Farm Centre GSM Market and arraigned seven people before a Kano magistrate court.

According to a press statement issued on May 13, 2026, the suspects — Sadiq Ayuba, 18, of Darmanawa Quarters, and Abdulganiyu Abba, 38, of Mariri Quarters — were picked up following an intelligence-led investigation.

During interrogation, Sadiq Ayuba allegedly confessed that he and others were mobilized and paid by one Mallam Hassan, who remains at large, to attack the market and the entourage of AA Zaura.

The attack resulted in the destruction of businesses and property, damage to a Toyota ambulance belonging to the entourage, and a tricycle belonging to one Shamsuddeen Sani.

With the latest arrests, the total number of suspects in custody now stands at seven. All seven were arraigned on Tuesday before Magistrate Court Number 2, Nomansland, Kano, on charges of criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, joining an unlawful assembly, being armed with deadly weapons, and mischief.

Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori said the Command would not relent in tracking down all individuals and sponsors behind violent thuggery and public disturbances in the state. He added that a manhunt for Mallam Hassan is ongoing.

CP Bakori commended residents for providing credible information that aided the investigation and urged the public to continue sharing timely intelligence to keep Kano safe and peaceful.

The statement was signed by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, for the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command.
