KASU appoints Dr Kana as new director of health sciences and technology institute

The Management of Kaduna State University (KASU) has approved the appointment of Dr. Musa Abubakar Kana as the new Director, Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, KASU, Makarfi Campus.

The appointment is with effect from 21st December, 2022 to 20th December, 2024, according to a statement on Thursday by KASU’s Public Relations Officer Adamu Nuhu Bargo.

“Dr. Kana is an Associate Professor of Perinatal Epidemiology and Public Health. He earned a medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Jos, a Master of Health (MPH) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Porto, Portugal.

“He completed postdoctoral training in molecular and environmental epidemiology at the United States National Institute of Health (NIH). He also completed the five years Community Health/Public Health residency program at the West African College of Physicians (MWACP) and National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPH)

“Over the last two decades, Dr. Kana held hospital and community-based clinical, teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities. He previously served as the Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Assistant Dean (Pre-Clinical) of the College of Medicine, KASU. In addition, he was Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Federal University, Lafiya,” Bargo said.
