Kebbi Hisbah arrests married woman, man in hotel

Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested a man and a married woman at a hotel in Birnin Kebbi following a tip-off from residents.

According to a statement released by the Hisbah Media Team, the arrest took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The Board said it acted on “credible information from residents of the neighborhood” and moved in on the suspects.

After preliminary investigations, Hisbah confirmed that the woman is married and had checked into the hotel with the man without her husband’s presence.

Both suspects were taken into custody to allow further investigation into the circumstances that led them to the hotel.

The Hisbah Board reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Islamic teachings and community moral standards.

“The Board remains committed to fighting all forms of acts that violate Islamic teachings and the good morals of the community,” the statement read.

It also called on parents and community stakeholders to increase vigilance and cooperate with authorities to promote discipline and peaceful coexistence.

The Board said investigations are ongoing and appropriate actions will be taken once information gathering is complete.
