Kwankwaso blasts Ganduje over N20bn loan for new bridge

  • Says Kano people want education more than bridge

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has faulted the decision of the Ganduje administration to obtain N20bn loan to construct a new bridge in the state.

Kwankwaso, in an interview with the BBC Hausa, said it is unfair to obtain a loan and leave the future generation with the task of repaying, adding it should be the responsibility of the federal government to build the bridge which connects Kano and Wudil.

He said all the bridges constructed during his time as governor were funded with state resources.

The former governor said though there is the need for the bridge in Kano, what the people need the most is education, to equip the poor with vocational skills with which to become self-reliant.

Kwankwaso also criticised the sale of public lands, warning that when they return to power, they will demolish structures built on such lands.

“Whoever buys the land from the authorities, even if he builds a 1000 story building, it will be demolished and return to its former state,” he said
