The new General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Kabir Mukhtar, on Tuesday 10 August 2021, took over the mantle of leadership of the Division as the 38th General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army.
Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony, Major General Mukhtar, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
He also pledged to continue the good job his predecessor started within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

Maj Gen. Mukhtar therefore urged the officers to continue to maintain high level of discipline and give proper mentorship and guidance to their subordinates.
Earlier in his address, the outgone GOC, Maj Gen Himisu Danjuma Ali-Keffi, urged officers and soldiers of the Diviision to give the same level of support that was accorded him to the new GOC
Maj Gen Ali-Keffi further noted that in the past few months the spate of kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality within the Division’s Area of Responsibility, especially in Kaduna, Niger and parts of Kano States has reduced considerably.
He further stated that the the Govrnor of Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Bello had sometime between March and April 2021 informed Nigerians of bandits flying flags in the state adding that the Division immediately went into action and carried out an operation to rid the state of such development.
He therefore commended efforts of troops of the Division in bringing the development under control.
Maj Gen Ali-Keffi also urged the new GOC not rest on his oars until the entire Division Area of Responsity, and the nation at large, enjoy peace and tranquility which will enable law abiding citizens to go about their businesses without any fear of molestation.
Maj Gen Ali-Keffi thanked governors and traditional rulers of the North West geopolitical zone for their support during his tour of duty at the Division.
Highlight of the occasion was the decoration of the new GOC, Maj Gen Mukhtar, with insignia of the office and presentation of the flag of office by the outgoing GOC Maj Gen Ali-Keffi.
Present at the occasion were the Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Maj Gen SO Olabanji, Commanders of formation and units of 1 Division, Principal Staff Officers of the Division among others.
