Maulud: Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi tasks government on security

A renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has advised government at all levels to continue to put more effort to end the insecurity bedeviling  several parts of the country.

Sheikh Dahiru stated this last night when he led thousands of Muslims at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi to celebrate the annual event in commemoration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

He said the problem of insecurity started because some people abuse their fellow Muslims by calling them unbelievers, while some even abuse the exalted servants of Allah.

Sheikh Dahiru recited the biography of the Holy Prophet and advised Muslims to emulate his qualities.

He wished all Muslims all over the world happy maulud anniversary and explained that this year’s Maulud came with serious socio-economic challenges in Nigeria. He enjoined Muslims to purify their hearts and “increase our deeds towards our creator.”

The scholar said it is in total submission to Allah SWT through recitation of Istigfar, salutations to Prophet Muhammad and glorifying the name of Allah that sustainable peace and progress can be achieved in the country.

He reminded Muslims that Allah enjoins all Muslims to embrace peace and shun violence, affliction and unrest.

The Sheikh said Allah created us “from single male and female (Adam and Eve) and made us into nations and tribes so that we may know one another”. So, he enjoined us and advised Nigerians to desist from all ethnic prejudice and hostilities.

The scholar drew the attention of the government to be alive to its responsibilities, give listening ears to its citizens, seek and adhere to advice from sincere quarters and stakeholders on the matter.

He said that it is an unwise decision to ignore the yearnings and aspirations of citizens and allow any civil unrest to degenerate into chaos.

Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi called on the government to pay attention to the legitimate demands of its citizens and urged the citizens and protesters to shun all manner of social disturbances that may lead to anarchy and seek the path of dialogue on their demands.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who attended the Maulud celebration with his wife, thanked Allah for sparing our lives to witness this year’s Eid el-Maulud Celebration when we commemorate the birth of the Prophet of Islam  Muhammad ( peace be upon Him ).

Governor Bala said “Prophet Muhammad lived a simple but exemplary life. Besides the divine revelations which he received and passed on to his followers, he also preached peace, honesty, patience, generosity, humility, sincerity, love for one another and the fear of God. It is these virtues that people, irrespective of their religious inclinations, are enjoined to imbibe and to put into practice.”

He appealed for “sober reflection and self-evaluation by all with a view to knowing how well we related with our creator and fellow human beings during the last one year and make amends where necessary.”

Governor Bala said Bauchi State and Nigeria as a country need peace more than ever before and urged all Muslims to pray for peace to prevail.

He advised the people of the state to bury their ethnic, religious, or political differences and continue to live in peace and harmony with one another.

The occasion was attended by scholars from Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Chad, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Niger and representatives of Kogi, Katsina, Gombe, Kebbi and Jigawa State Governors.
