The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Monday, March 15, 2021 and the first day of Sha’aban 1442 AH.
This followed the non-sighting of the Sha’aban crescent on Saturday.
Monday will also be the first day of Sha’aban in Niger Republic, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Libya.
However, in Turkey, Iraq, and Tunisia, Sunday is the first day of Sha’aban, which is the 8th month of the Islamic calendar and the once preceding the fasting month of Ramadan.
