The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, has advocated strategic synergy and digital transformation as key to sustainable Hajj fund management.
Ambassador Yusuf stated this while featuring as a prominent international panelist at the 8th International Hajj Fund Forum (IHFF) 2026, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center, Indonesia.
The forum, hosted by Indonesia’s Hajj Financial Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji – BPKH), was themed “Sustainable Hajj Fund Management Through Strategic Synergy and Digital Transformation.”
The event convened global policymakers, Sharia finance experts and institutional leaders to address macroeconomic complexities affecting pilgrimage operations, escalating costs and the need to preserve long-term benefits for future pilgrims.
Participating in a high-level panel alongside BPKH Executive Board Chief, Fadlul Imansyah, and other international dignitaries, the NAHCON Chairman shared insights from Nigeria’s perspective on how multi-agency alignment and robust digital frameworks can shield the Hajj ecosystem from global financial volatility.
“The future of Hajj administration depends on our collective ability to innovate. Managing Hajj funds efficiently is no longer just about financing the immediate next pilgrimage; it is about protecting wealth and ensuring sustainable benefits for future generations of pilgrims,” Yusuf said.
“By leaning into technological transformations and cementing strategic ties with key global partners like Indonesia, NAHCON is positioning Nigeria at the forefront of transparent and economically sound Hajj operations in line with the interests of current and future generations of pilgrims,” he added.
He also highlighted plans to expand investments into high-yielding infrastructure projects within the Hajj value chain, such as hospitality and logistics, to lower accommodation costs while maintaining robust returns for the fund.
The forum featured addresses from Indonesian dignitaries, including the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, K.H. Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, and the Vice Minister of Finance, Juda Agung.
Participants praised Nigeria’s active involvement and intent to build strategic synergies with fellow Muslim-majority nations to leverage financial technology for modern Hajj administration.
According to NAHCON, its participation at the forum marks a milestone in Nigeria’s pursuit of developing autonomous, technology-driven wealth-creation frameworks for its pilgrims.
