NDC appoints Osa Director as national publicity secretary, Ekele, Ibrahim as deputies

The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished journalist, lawyer and pro-democracy advocate, Osa Director, as the National Publicity Secretary of the party.

The party has also approved the appointments of accomplished media professionals, Peter Agbo Ekele and Lawal Sabo Ibrahim, as Deputy National Publicity Secretaries.

These appointments reflect the NDC’s commitment to building a formidable communication architecture driven by professionalism, integrity, intellectual depth and unwavering dedication to democratic ideals.

Osa Director brings to the office decades of remarkable experience spanning journalism, law, media management and democratic advocacy.

A highly accomplished scholar and public affairs analyst, he holds degrees in Biochemistry, Management, Law, Media and Communications, and Corporate Governance, alongside professional certifications from prestigious institutions including Cambridge University and Leeds Metropolitan University.

He rose to national prominence during the pro-democracy struggle as a courageous journalist with TELL Magazine, one of Nigeria’s most influential media platforms during the military era. His commitment to democracy and free speech led to his incarceration under the late General Sani Abacha military junta.

As co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of INSIDER WEEKLY Magazine, Osa Director contributed immensely to investigative journalism and public accountability in Nigeria.

He later established the law firm, Osa Director & Co., further broadening his impact in legal practice and public discourse. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), African Bar Association (ABA), and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), among other professional bodies.

Similarly, Peter Agbo Ekele is a seasoned journalist and editor with over a decade of experience in mainstream Nigerian journalism. A graduate of English Language from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Ekele has served in several strategic editorial capacities, including Reporter, News Editor, Group News Editor and Editor within some of Nigeria’s leading media organisations such as New Nigerian, National Accord and LEADERSHIP Newspapers.

Widely respected for his editorial competence, professionalism and excellent communication skills, Ekele is also a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Cabal Newspaper.

Lawal Sabo Ibrahim, another respected media professional, also joins the NDC publicity team with extensive experience in journalism, publishing and academia. He holds degrees in English Education and English Language from the University of Jos and Bayero University, Kano, respectively.

Over the years, he has served as Lecturer at Kano State Polytechnic, Editor at Peoples Daily and LEADERSHIP Newspapers, and later as Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Triumph Publishing Company between 2017 and 2023.

He is a member of notable professional bodies including the International Press Institute (IPI), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

The NDC is confident that the combined experience, intellectual capacity and media expertise of these accomplished professionals will strengthen the party’s engagement with Nigerians and advance its vision for a democratic, inclusive and prosperous nation.
