Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested two men in separate operations in Katsina and Kaduna States with a total of 396 rounds of military-grade ammunition.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday, July 26, 2026, by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the Agency, Femi Babafemi.

According to NDLEA, a 30-year-old suspect, Mustapha Sani, was nabbed on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, during a patrol operation at Baure in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He was found in possession of 323 rounds of military-grade ammunition consisting of 200 pieces of 7.62mm and 123 rounds of 7.6mm, neatly concealed.

Also on the same day, NDLEA officers on a stop and search operation at Jere, along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, arrested another 30-year-old suspect, Abubakar Amadu.

He was caught with 73 rounds of RLA, 7.62mm ammunition hidden in kegs of red oil.

The statement said both suspects have been handed over to the relevant security agency for further investigation.

The seizures come as NDLEA continues its nationwide operations against drug trafficking and related crimes.

Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the Katsina and Kaduna Commands and urged officers to sustain the ongoing balanced approach to drug control and security enforcement.
