NDLEA files 8 charges against Abba Kyari, 6 others

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed eight charges against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari, and six others over alleged drug trafficking.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the charges were filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, same day the Federal Government commenced the process for the extradition of Kyari to the United States.

Kyari was indicted by the US over the money laundering case against iRamon Abbas, known as Hushpuppi.

The other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, are four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Sunday J. Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba and John Nuhu.

The other two are Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne who were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu.

The charge was filed through a team of lawyers led by NDLEA’s Director, Prosecution and Legal Services, Joseph Sunday.

Kyari and the four other police officers of conspiracy, obstruction, and dealing in cocaine worth 17.55 kilograms.

They were also accused of unlawfully tampering with 21.25kg of cocaine.
