NEMA distributes relief materials to Giwa victims of bandit attacks

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered relief materials approved to provide succour to persons affected by the recent bandits attack in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Director General of NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed who led a team of the Agency to deliver the items also commiserated with the Kaduna State Government and the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incidents.

The DG who was represented by the Director Relief and Rehabilitation, Mal. Alhassan Nuhu also conveyed concerns and sympathy of the Federal Government to the people and explained that efforts are on top gear to end insurgency across the country.

He added that the gesture was directives from President Muhammadu Buhari for immediate response to support the victims. He also said that the relief items were based on initial needs assessment conducted to provide the affected persons with immediate supports not as compensation for what they have lost.

He listed the items delivered as 215 bags of rice, 215 bags of beans, 215 bags of maize, 12 bags of salt, 36 cartons of seasoning cubes, 22 kegs of vegetable oil, 430 pieces of mattresses.

Others are 430 nylon mats, 645 blankets, 430 mosquito nets, 430 buckets, 50 cartons detergents, 20 cartons tomatoes paste, 50 cartons of diapers, 50 cartons of toilet soaps and children and adult clothing.

Responding the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, Muhammad Muazu Mukaddas who accompanied the distribution team on behalf of the State Government, appreciated NEMA for it’s timely support. .

The Chairman Giwa Local Government council Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Lawal Giwa pledged to avail the team with all the support it needed to accomplish it’s task.

The North West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA Alhaji Abbani Imam Garki also led a team from the zonal office to join the delegation from Head office
