NHIS stakeholders play major role in healthcare delivery – Yobe Coordinator

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Coordinator in Yobe State Alh. Dabo I. Abdullahi has said that stakeholders play a major role in the healthcare delivery system, adding that their support is key to the success of the implementation of Social Health Insurance in the country.

Speaking at the NHIS stakeholders Interactive forum in Damaturu, the coordinator said the forum was approved by the NHIS Executive Secretary Professor Nasiru Sambo to serve as an avenue for redressing some of the challenges hindering the smooth operations of the scheme.

The coordinator also said “at the end of this forum we are hoping to provide solutions to issues bordering access of quality healthcare to our enrollees.”

Before opening the floor to the enrollees, Healthcare Facilities and HMOs, the coordinator made a brief presentation on the various roles every stakeholder is expected to play to enable the system work effectively.

He also highlighted the various rights and privileges that an enrollee supposed to enjoy.

CDR K.B. Dikwa (Rtd), State Manager Defence HMO Borno/Yobe, said as a Health Mantainance Organisations they would intensity their effort towards the sensitisation of the healthcare facilities and quality assurance visits to ensure that good services are being provided to the enrollees.

Hajiya Hasiya M. Paga of the Songhai HMO, in her comment, urged the Healthcare Facilities to be specific in demanding authorisation codes for referring enrollees from one level of healthcare to the other.

She lamented that at times the hospital on demanding refferal code would just mention the aliment without stating it’s severity.

An enrollee from Federal Ministry of Education, Evaluation and Quality Assurance Office, Yobe State Hajiya Rabiatu Lawan M. appreciated the way NHIS operates.

Many enrollees asked several questions and they were given answers appropriately.
