Niger govt declares three-day mourning as 37 die in NSCDC custody

The Niger State Government has declared three-day mourning following the death of 37 people in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

According to the statement, 37 people lost their lives under the custody of the NSCDC, Niger State Command.

Governor Bago commiserated with the families of the victims and declared a three-day mourning period in their honour.

The governor also cancelled the APC political rally scheduled for this Saturday in Minna, the state capital, in view of the incident, the statement said.
