Niger govt restricts tricycles, motorcycles in Minna

Following the youth restiveness in Minna metropolis, which led to the looting and destruction of properties, the Niger State Government has restricted the movement of commercial motorcycles and tricycles popularly known as Keke NAPEP from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The restriction order commences from Friday, 9th April, 2021, according to a statement by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State Ahmed Ibrahim Matane.

“Therefore, the period allowed for the operators of commercial motorcycles and the tricycles is now to take place between 6:00 am to 9:00 pm under strict compliance with laid down traffic rules and regulations which include the use of reflective jacket, plate number among others.

“There will be stop and search of other vehicles that are allowed movement within the period by security agents.

“The State Government warn the operators of commercial motorcycles and tricycles to comply strictly with this directive as failure to do so will face the full wrath of the law.

“Security Agencies, VIO, FRSC, other Road Marshals are enjoined to ensure effective and strict compliance/enforcement of these guidelines to safeguard the life and property of every peace-loving person in the State,” the statement by Matane said
