Niger LG shuts down event centre, revokes permit over alleged underage party

The Bida Local Government Council in Niger State has revoked the business permit of Kakaki Event Centre and ordered the immediate closure of the facility over alleged violations linked to an event involving underage participants.

The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Bida Local Government Council, Aliyu B. Umar, on July 17, 2026.

According to the council, the action followed reports that a group of minors organized a gathering tagged “Wizkid Birthday Party” at the event centre. The council alleged that the event featured inappropriate conduct involving underage participants, with video clips from the gathering circulating on social media and generating public concern.

The council stated that the management of the event centre may have breached provisions of the Bida Business Permit Bye-Law No. 1 of 2026 and other laws relating to child protection and public conduct by allowing the event to take place on its premises.

Acting on the directive of the Executive Chairman of Bida Local Government, Rt. Hon. UM Manko, Danmajen Nupe, the Bida Local Government Compliance Task Force visited the facility and formally communicated the revocation of the centre’s business permit and the order for its immediate closure.

The council further disclosed that the management of Kakaki Event Centre would be served with legal processes requiring its appearance before the Mobile Court of the Bida Local Government Compliance Task Force to respond to the allegations.

Authorities also indicated that relevant security and law enforcement agencies are expected to investigate the incident in accordance with applicable laws.

The Compliance Task Force warned that any person found within the premises during the closure period could be regarded as acting contrary to the council’s directive and may face legal consequences. (Lapai TV)
