Nigeria reports 1,861 new Covid-19 cases, 22 deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 1,861 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria and 22 deaths.

According to the figures released for Wednesday, Lagos recorded 773, FCT-285, Oyo-138, Rivers-111, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-83, and Kaduna-59.

Others arenEnugu-57, Imo-57, Edo-43, Kwara-20, Ebonyi-19, Abia-17, Ogun-12, Osun-12, Katsina-8, Bayelsa-6, Bauchi-5
Delta-5, Borno-4, Jigawa-4 and Zamfara-1.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the number of deaths also rose from 1,522 on Tuesday to 1,544 on Wednesday.

The NCDC also disclosed that same Wednesday, 697 community recoveries were recorded in Lagos State, 128 in Rivers State and 116 in Plateau State.

Total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria now stands at 126,160 while that of recoveries is 100,365.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed an Executive Order making the use of facemasks mandatory in public places.
