Nigeria reports 999 new Covid-19 infections

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 999 new cases of COVID-19, with the FCT, Lagos and Kaduna still dominating the list of affected states.

According to the figures released for Tuesday, the FCT posted 416, followed by Lagos with 324 and Kaduna with 68.

Others are Plateau-42, Kwara-32, Kano-24, Gombe-14, Sokoto-12, Yobe-12, Akwa Ibom-11, Bayelsa-10, Rivers-7, Bauchi-7, Ogun-6, Oyo-5, Edo-4, Taraba-4 and Jigawa-1.

Total number of infections so far recorded is now 79,789, with 68,879 recoveries and 1,231 deaths.

Dateline Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the mandate of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, even as he asked states to take over the fight.

Nigeria has also informed that the Covid-19 vaccine may arrive the country in January.
