NNPC, Akwa Ibom, Solution Hub to establish deepwater logistic base

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Solutions Hub Limited have finalized agreements to establish a fully integrated, deepwater logistics shore base in Akwa Ibom State.

The logistics base is proposed to be sited on a 40 sq km space in Ibaka, Mbo LGA, within the already designated Free Trade Zone in Akwa Ibom State, and it is modeled to be an alternative to existing logistics bases in Nigeria, to offer offshore construction support to West and Central African regions.

Speaking at the occasion the Governor of Akwa Ibom State Emmanuel Odom expressed appreciation to the investors, and assured them of the state’s hospitality while seeking for more projects, that will provide employment opportunities and development for the indigenes of the state.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman Board of NNPC Limited, Senator Margery Chuba-Okadigbo stated that the NNPCL is working with all relevant government agencies to deliver on a world class facility.

She further called on more partners to collaborate with the new NNPCL in order to secure their rights to play in Africa’s largest market by partnering with its largest energy company.

In his remarks, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, represented by the Executive Vice President Upstream, Engr. Adokiye Tombomieye, described the project as a game changer not just for the oil and gas industry, but for the nation’s economy.

The event was witnessed by dignitaries such as Dr. Lami Ahmed, Member Board of NNPC Limited; Engr Kamoru Busari, Ag. Permanent Secretary Ministry of Petroleum Resources; Engr Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS).

The Ibom Solution Hub Limited, a partnership of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is a fully Integrated, real Deepwater Logistics Services base project that will offer offshore construction and logistics services to the Eastern flank of Nigeria, the West and Central African Region.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd owns 30 percent of the Ibom Solution Hub, the Akwa Ibom State Government owns 20 percent while Solutions Hub Ltd owns 50 percent
