NNPC, security agencies destroy barge of stolen crude oil

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited in collaboration with private security contractors, and government security agencies, has intercepted and destroyed a barge loaded with stolen crude oil.

The apprehension which took place on the 22nd of December 2022 happened in one of the creeks running into the Ramos river in Agge community, a border village between Delta and Baylesa states.

The barge labeled MT Brighton 1 was destroyed today the 31st of December 2022 and the suspects arrested.

In a related development, the security intervention team also demolished a fuel station in Opete Warri, Delta State.

The fuel station named Blessed Corporate Oil and Gas Services Limited, was caught with a truck loaded with stolen crude oil and also discharging illegal contents into its underground storage tanks.

Earlier in the year, there has been a massive campaign by the NNPC limited against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which has led to a coordinated intervention from government security agencies and private security contractors and all these, according to the NNPCL has helped to increase Nigeria’s crude oil production level.
