The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has led a high-profile delegation on an advocacy visit to the NDLEA Rehabilitation Centre, Zaria, as part of activities to sensitise the public against drug abuse and domestic violence.
The delegation included the NOA Kaduna State Director, Mallam Danjuma Makama, a representative of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, in the person of *Hon. Jamil Ahmad, Chairman, Zaria Local Government Area, as well as other top officials of the Agency.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with clients at the Centre, offering words of encouragement, fatherly advice and prayers, while wishing them speedy recovery and successful reintegration into society.The team also appreciated the NDLEA for its collaboration and efforts in providing rehabilitation services to persons affected by substance abuse.
The delegation commended the NDLEA Kaduna State Command for its visible efforts in combating drug abuse and its participation in the sensitisation road show held in Kaduna the previous day.
In his response, the State Commander, NDLEA Kaduna State Command, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, on behalf of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), CON, thanked the delegation for the visit and continued collaboration. He highlighted the Agency’s mandate and its strategies of supply reduction, demand reduction, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation.
The Commander thereafter interacted with officers and men of the Zaria Area Command and Sabon Gari Field Command,where he stressed the importance of teamwork, unity and discipline, urging personnel to work together as one family, carry everyone along and maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
