The Director of Publicity and Advocacy/Spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Abdul-Azeez Suleiman has passed on in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Suleiman died in the early hours of Wednesday and his janazah (funeral prayer) will hold by 11am today at the Tukur-Tukur Jumuah Mosque in Zaria, according to a family member Aliyu Hassan.
A longtime colleague Nasiru Dambatta said Suleiman died just before surgery at the Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria.
Suleiman was a seasoned journalist who worked with the Daily Trust for years before exiting as News Editor of the then Weekly Trust. He also held various editorial positions in other national newspapers, including the Summit and The Road.
Before his appointment as NEF spokesperson to replace Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed in 2023, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman was the Spokesperson of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG).
