The Kano State Police Command has busted a motorcycle theft syndicate and recovered six stolen motorcycles in the state.
The Command said on September 22, 2026, a case of criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property involving a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle was reported at Sabon Gari Division and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for investigation.
Operatives arrested two suspects, Maharazu Mohammed, 22, and Hassan Abdullahi, 22, both of PRP Quarters, Kano.
During investigation, the suspects confessed and provided information that led to the arrest of six additional suspects, bringing the total to eight.
The police said sustained follow-up led to the recovery of six motorcycles comprising two Motor B motorcycles, three Haojue motorcycles and one Companion motorcycle.
In a related development, the Command handed over three previously recovered motor vehicles to their rightful owners after verification and documentation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the detectives for their professionalism and said the operation aligns with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen intelligence-led policing.
The CP said investigation is ongoing to recover more stolen motorcycles and apprehend fleeing members of the syndicate, adding that all suspects will be charged to court.
The Command urged members of the public whose motorcycles were stolen to come forward with proof of ownership for identification and claim, and to contact the IPO on 08140081608 or report at the PPRO’s office, Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano.
