Travellers on the Jos-Abuja highway were forced to make a detour on Wednesday after youths and women blocked the road around Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Dateline Nigeria learnt that the protesters were on the street early in the morning following late night attacks on their communities by gunmen.

“They did not touch anyone. They only tried to draw attention to their plight. Some of them were even saying that the Special Task Force (STF) should leave the area for failing to protect them,” a source told our reporter.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the protest caused panic among travellers using the Jos-Abuja highway because innocent motorists had been attacked in the past.
The STF and the Plateau State Police Command could not be immediately reached for comment.
