Qur’an recitation competition: Bagudu congratulates winners, presents car gifts, others

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has charged parents and stakeholders to join hands and continue to support the growth and development of the education sector.

This, he said is in order to complement efforts of the Government towards the development of the society.

The governor gave the charge while congratulating the winners of the my the Kebbi State 31st Qur’anic Recitation Competition at the closing ceremony of the event held at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Bagudu expressed delight at the emergence of the winners who will represent the state in Bauchi State for final of the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition.

Bagudu also enjoined them to strive towards achieving resounding religious knowledge through dint of hardwork and self discipline.

The emergence of both Hamida Bala as the overall winner for female category and Mustapha Muhammad as the overall winner of the male category testified to the saying,” all creations have talents as endowed by God , but only the dedicated ones can succeed.

” Your success is an indication of more good things to come in your life. This signifies the importance of knowledge in our lives.

” I pray that your success would benefit the society. I call on teachers, parents and the public to do more to support education of our children,”he averred.

Education, according to the governor was a panacea to the security challenges we are facing, as well as a pillar for promoting unity and tranquility in the society.

The governor hinted that, ”Better Education Service Delivery ” BESDA, program is geared towards improving both conventional and Islamiyya Schools, as well as welfare of Islamiyya teachers through a coordinated plan with the World Bank.

He urged parents to imbibe the habit of visiting schools in order to bolster the education of their wards.

The Governor directed Ministry of Education and the State Arabic Board to liaise and compile the list of the successful students requiring scholarship for further studies in Saudi Arabia and those interested in entrepreneurship for his approval.

The Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, who is the Chief host of the program, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero, represented by Director of Resource Management , Abubakar Nayelda, expressed appreciation to the Governor for supporting the staging of the program.

He stated that the Qur’anic recitation Competition program has blossomed from local to national dimension and has afforded an opportunity to womenfolk to compete side by side with men.

The Commissioner commended Governor Bagudu for his myriad of efforts towards ensuring reduction of out-of-school children.

In the same vein, the Executive Secretary of Arabic and Islamic Board, Dr. Buhari Bello appreciated Bagudu for his tireless support towards the success of the program.

He said the state winners would travel by air to Bauchi to represent the State for the final event.

Highlights of the event was the recitation of Holy Quran by the winners and the presentation of car keys to them by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu as gifts.

Mustapha Muhammad from Jega , Gwandu Emirate and Hamida Bala,Birnin Kebbi also from Gwandu Emirate emerged the overall winners in male and female categories under 60 Hizbs and Tafsir .
