Sadio Mane performs Umrah in Makkah hours after Al Nassr debut

Newly-signed Al-Nassr sensation Sadio Mane wasted no time in embarking on the Umrah pilgrimage just hours after his debut for the club on Thursday, August 3rd.

As a devout Muslim, Mane was captured in a viral video, along with some of his Muslim teammates, including former RC Lens captain Seko Fofana, embarking on this sacred journey in the revered city of Mecca.

What is Umrah?
Umrah bears a resemblance to Hajj but offers the advantage of being performed at any time. To optimize their spiritual journeys, faithful believers frequently opt for Umrah during the revered month of Ramadan, according to Accor.

In contrast to Hajj, Umrah rituals are shorter and simpler.

The Pilgrim adds that the profound aim of undertaking Umrah is to establish a connection with Allah, earn His favour, and reap the abundant rewards tied to this act of devotion.

Mane’s Al-Nassr debut
Joining the ranks of high-profile players transitioning from Europe to the Gulf country, the two-time African Footballer of the Year signed a four-year deal with Al-Nassr this week.

Though he only made a cameo appearance in his debut, the Knights of Nahd managed a 1-1 draw against Zamalek in the ongoing Arab Club Champions Cup, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the regional competition for the first time since 2013.

Mane misses celebrations for prayers

It will be recalled that in March 2022, Mane missed Liverpool’s post-match celebrations after their Carabao Cup triumph, leaving fans worried about his absence.

However, it was revealed that the player left to go and offer his Islamic prayers and was sighted with his mat after the game.

Ronaldo follows Mane on Instagram
Sports Brief also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has followed his new Al-Nassr teammate on Instagram following the ex-Liverpool star’s arrival at Al-Nassr earlier this week.

Following his debut, Mane took to Instagram to congratulate Ronaldo for scoring the all-important goal against the Egyptian giants.

Upon spotting the message, Ronaldo quickly gave the African Player of the Year a follow.
