Sallah: Bauchi governor tasks Muslims on forgiveness

As Bauchi Muslims join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s Eidbel-Kabir, Governor Bala Mohammed has called on them to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another.

The governor made the call in a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to the provision of the much required democracy dividends to the electorates.

Governor Bala urged the Muslim faithful to use the period to strengthen their existing interpersonal relationships.

The governor noted that the Eid el-Kabir is celebrated annually in commemoration of the great sacrifice and total submission of Prophet Abraham (AS) to the will of Allah when he answered the divine call to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Isma’il, which is the highest spiritual sacrifice that has ever been made in observance of divine injunction.

He described the sacrifice as a worthy of emulation, especially by the Muslim Ummah.

“I want to start by giving Glory to Allah (SWT) for sparing our lives to witness yet another Eid-el-Kabir celebration”, he said.

He said Islam is a religion that propagates total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) and peaceful co-existence amongst the Muslim Ummah and with adherents of other faiths.

Governor Bala noted that the Holy Qur’an has also commanded all Muslims to give something (in charity) out of the treasure which Allah has bestowed on them.

“This should be done without consideration for religious, ethnic or political differences”, the governor pointed out.

Governor Bala also appealed to all motorists to observe traffic regulations in order to minimize road accidents throughout the period of Eid-el-Kabir celebration and beyond.

He appealed to parents to monitor the movement of their children and wards in order to reduce the incidents of missing children during this festivity.

Governor Bala stressed the need foe prayers for the prevailing peace in the state to be sustained and for adequate rainfall for a bumper harvest during this year’s farming season.

“We will continue to pursue developmental projects that have direct bearing on the lives of our people in the remaining one year of our first term inSha Allah”, the governor pledged.

He said that the government is not unmindful of the economic hardship being experienced by the generality of the people, explaining that the problem has its root in the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020.

Bala who called on the people of the state to bear with the situation which, according to him is temporary, said as a responsive and responsible Government, he will continue to render palliative measures with a view to cushioning the effects of the hardship.
