A man was arrested at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia after brandishing a knife and shouting terrorist slogans on Tuesday.

The man was arrested after Asr prayers on the first floor of the Grand Mosque after he was spotted shouting expressions supporting terrorist groups and organizations, Makkah region police said.

The spokesman of Makkah region police said “The man was apprehended immediately and legal measures have been taken against him.”

Meanwhile, President of the Haramain Sheikh Abdul Rehman Al Sudais condemns the incident.

“The Two Holy Mosques are for worship and the performance of rituals, not to chant slogans,” he said.
