Sheikh Gumi visits another Fulani settlement in Kaduna

  • lays foundation for the building of clinic, school in community

Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has led Muslim leaders to another Fulani settlement in his effort to spread the true message of Islam and preach to the herders against engaging in criminal ventures.

Gumi, on Sunday, visited the Gamagira Grazing Reserve following an invitation by the Fulani communities there who were happy with his recent mission to Jere, a town on the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

The scholar was accompanied by the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque Sheikh Muhammad Suleiman Adam, Chief Imam of Dan Fodio Mosque Sheikh Sanusi Kutama, Mallam Tukur Mamu (Dan-Iyan Fika), Dr Ahmed Yande, Alhaji Ibrahim Yarima Dangirka and many others.

The Gamagira Grazing Reserve shares common borders with four local governments – Soba, Igabi, Kajuru and Kauru – in Kaduna State. To access the town of Gamagira, Gumi and his entourage had to use motorcycles due to the poor state of the roads.

While addressing the Fulani community, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi apologised to them for whatever injustice done to them and urged them to fight ignorance by seeking true knowledge of Islam. He also distributed reading materials to the community to assist them in learning about Islam.

The Fulani have complained about years of neglect by government and how they have lost their lives and cattle sometimes based on mere suspicion.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Gumi has performed the foundation laying ceremony for the building of a clinic, school and mosque in the community. He also promised to assist them with the provision of water for human and animal consumption will be provided for them.
