Former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has commended the efforts of Governor Bello Matawalle in fighting armed banditry and other heinous crimes in the state.
He made the commendation on Wednesday when he paid a visit to Governor Bello Matawalle at the Government House, Gusau to commisserate with the Government and people of Zamfara State over the loss of lives and property arising from the activities of bandits.
The former Borno State Governor said the peace accord and reconciliation process earlier initiated by the Governor has made northern states enjoy relative peace, pointing out that the other measures taken recently by the Governor against all terrorists enclaves will now further clear the way for peace and tranquility to reign in the state.
He informed the Governor that the vision and tenacity put in place have resulted in the success being recorded in fighting terrorism and the upliftment of the the people of the state.
Senator Ali Modu Sheriff who hailed Governor Bello Matawalle for the infrastructural development recorded in the state, said the Governor has changed the fortunes of Zamfara State by transforming the state to an enviable position within a short time.
He noted that Borno and Zamfara States share similar problems of terrorists attack pointing out that the efforts put in place by both Governor Matawalle and Governor Zulum are yielding fruitful results.
He prayed Allahu SWT to forgive those who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks and grant their families the fortitude to bear the losses.
Senator Ali Modu Sheriff who is also an APC Chieftain in Nigeria called on people of the state to intensify prayers for an end to the menace of banditry and terrorism as the Government alone cannot do it.
Responding, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle thanked the former Governor of Borno State and APC Chieftain for finding time to visit Zamfara State to commisserate with the people and Government despite his tight schedules.
Governor Bello Matawalle explained that Borno and Zamfara States share similar problems of terrorists attacks, saying efforts are being made on daily basis with support and intense prayers the problem would be a thing of the past.
The Shettiman Sokoto who briefed his visitor and his entourage on the scenario of the problem in the state and how he inherited it from the previous administration, said his administration has from inception put in place measures of tackling the insecurity in the state, and hoped that with God’s intervention, we shall triumph.
