Sokoto boat mishap: Wamakko donates N3m to bereaved parents

The Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Saturday paid condolence visit to Gidan Magana Village in Shagari local government area, Sokoto State where 29 persons died recently from boat mishap.

During the condolence visit, Senator Wamakko, said, Allah controls human affairs hence urging them to take solace in His verdicts.

“Only Allah gives live and takes. As Muslims, we are therefore urged to accept Allah’s will without contestation. All we can do is to pray for the repose of the departed souls.

“Though, it’s painful that such young human beings all died in a single day. But what else can we do, hence Allah’s wish is always unquestionable and the best for us”.

While donating the sum of N2.9 million naira to the bereaved parents, Senator Wamakko also donated 100,000 Naira each to the village head and the Imam of Gidan Magana.

Responding to the gesture one of the bereaved parents, also Village Head of Gidan Magana Alh. Muhammadu Lawali, said Senator Wamakko is one politician who has no equal in terms of care, grassroots mobilization, and display of love for all and sundry as far as Sokoto State is concerned.

Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, was accompanied by the Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, former Minister of Transport Yusuf Suleiman, Director General National Teachers Institute, Professor Musa Garba Mai Tafsir, Deputy Chairman All Progressives Congress Sokoto State Chapter Alhaji Hassan Bello Dangote, amongst many other respectable dignitaries in the State.
